CHEAP 1965-68 Full Size Chevy Disc Brake Conversion - Impala, Bel air, Biscayne, Caprice
CHEAP 1965-68 Full Size Chevy Disc Brake Conversion - Impala, Bel air, Biscayne, Caprice -- I recently bought a 1966 Chevy Bel Air and have started trying to make it roadworthy. The first step has been the brakes. While the rear was an easy stock rebuild, I wanted disc brakes on the front. There are several manufactures of kits for these cars such as Wilwood and Leed Brakes, but they are very expensive. You can put together your own kit using CPP brackets and off the shelf parts from an local auto parts store. This video shows you what parts are needed, and how to install this brake kit.

    Did you consider building a more energy efficient envelope instead of needing two large ground source units? Seven tons of heating is huge, even six as you mention could have worked, given a good portion of your build is below grade. I’m building a two storey with basement, 5400 sqft total, so about 2/3 the roof and basement area of your bungalow, but the design heat load is only 2 tons (99% design temp is -13F but I designed for -22F/-30C). It’s super insulated (R55 walls, R11 windows) and a good portion of the added cost for the envelope is saved by needing smaller hvac. Not knocking your build at all; I’m a fierce supporter of DIY and ICF construction certainly has its benefits. Just curious about your approach given the large heat load. Thanks!

    • @Challenged1
      @Challenged1 2 дні тому

      Believe it or not, the cost difference for a smaller unit isn't that much. Both of my units have 2-stage compressors, so the majority of the time, they are running in the first stage, which is approximately 60% of full capacity.

    • @superspeeder
      @superspeeder День тому

      @@Challenged1 yes, most 2-stage systems spend most of their time in stage 1. Do you have a rough idea what the duty cycles are at your design temperatures when the units are running in stage 2? I would imagine in cooling season the units may never come out of their first stage.

    I went to the recycling center (I'm a pack rat) and someone tossed out a 10,000 BTU AC (roll around). Well ofc I'm not going to leave it, seeing it didn't look hurt and probably needed gassing up. I thought this will save me some money on cooling my little barn/shop. Anyway, me being me it sat in my yard all last year... This year it's been so dang hot (coastal SC 107⁰) I had to see what was up with the unit. I get to blow it out with the air hose and everything looks good. Drag out a drop cord and plug it in..... What do you know...... It got ice cold!! That was 4 days ago... it's still blowing cold, note it is a little noisy but hey.. Now my shop is cool, not cold, and that's why I'm checking your video out. The shop has a tin roof. No insulation. No ceiling. And you can hold your hand up and feel the difference in temperature. Question. Is there anything I can paint or spray on the tin from the inside. Because I can't get on top of the shop to "cool seal" it

    Are they designed such that (say your return fluid is always at 60) once you have your house above 60 in the winter the pump shuts off? I feel like it’s counter productive once you hit that temp either on your way up or down? But I might be missing something. I’m assuming this is to supplement HVAC systems. Thx

    • @Challenged1

I mean, I'm not pretending like $25k isn't a lot of money, it is a TON of money , but it's also a TON of work. Plus you already had an excavator. It’s REALLY important that people watching this video that clogs and blockages in a MAIN sewer line leading to a septic tank or county sewer that something is causing that blockage. Yea you can clear the line in many cases which is great and all but you then need to find out what’s causing the clog. The septic tank may be full and backing up or a line has busted or collapsed. Fats, oils, and grease being washed down the drains or kitchen sink. “Flushbale” wipes and baby wipes is a major no no.

I’m hoping and praying that it happened close to the T in the drain and somewhere I can reach from the access point. I don’t want to pay thousands of dollars like the previous commenter. I think I probably have roots (most likely goji berries as they are sprouting up all over). I’m trying not to panic but I need to let the water lower down a bit before I determine if I need to call a plumber or not. Right now it’s a Sunday night and nothing is open.
